What happened today 24/11/2015

today we all had our scripts criticised by Kelly and when it came to mine. Kelly complimented it after I had explain a bit more and she compared to a mixture of wall-e and Dracula

Unit 26 - Research of a gift that is taken away and The Wanderer

The gift that is taken away and The Wanderer are two of the ten story types created by Phil Parker.


The gift That is taken Away means that someone's most priceless possession is taken away from him/her and in the case of my short film that is the main character's ability to die.




And the wanderer is about where The main character enters a new place because an event from the previous place made him leave but as he arrives something strange starts to happen that he has to solve. And in the case of my film it is where the man who cannot die has to deal with an old adversary of his in order to protect the one he cares about

Unit 30 - Examples of Advertisement

This unit we are studying the different types of advertisement so below are examples of different types of TV


Star power - is used when corporations use celebrities such as sports heroes, film stars and Teenage heart throbs in order their products.


Ideal Children - The children in adverts are often slightly older then the target audience they also have the latest gadgets and wear bright coloured clothes they also try to make the products advertised seem as brilliant as possible and that the target audience should wear them.


family Fun - shows familes being together as if it something to strive for and aspire to be like, which would make the perfect family unit.

Slogans - slogans are used to keep the potential customers mind on the adverts so that they will purchase the products being offered by the corporation.


Excitement -  The characters faces and their expressions portray much of the excitement there is never a dull moment. it is also communicated in other ways such as high speed shots.

What we did today-10/11/2015 - day two filming

Today met in the college at 10am to get the actors and supporting actors to get costumes and make up ready. During which myself and Daniel went and got the camera equipment from the green screen room. as soon as the make-up was done we headed to Stockton High street to catch the bus to Hartlepool. Which cost £5.10 for a day trip.  and once we got to Hartlepool it took 20 minutes to walk from the bus stop to High Tunstall farm where we would film. We filmed the shots we needed. but the two supporting actors had to leave early. then we filmed it and we all went home.

What we Did today 09/11/2015 The First day of filming

Today was the first day of filming of Itchycoo Park by Small faces, and It was disaster the first half of it went well but it turns out the first camera we used was reserved by another group and the second Camera we used had low battery but the shooting itself went well. so we have to reshoot the scenes we shot today on Wednesday. and Tomorrow we will shoot on farm fields outside of hartlepool

What we did today 05/11/2015

Today I handed in the risk assessment for one of the music videos we would do which it tuned out we wouldn't do due to time constraints. We also got our filming shirts. for when we are filming obviously. Adam and Honey talked with the makeup artists and I Spoke with Leo Kilburn to see if he would be interested in starring in Itchycoo Park by Small faces.

Unit 16 - It's all in the edit

Editing is what makes a Film, TV show come together as you have to put together all the different shots and takes and then put them together to make the final product come together. the types of editing depends on the genre of film and television show such as fast paced editing which is used in the action, horror, science fiction and fantasy and thriller genre for example in The Lord of the Rings The Fellowship of the Ring: in the final Battle where Aragorn fights Lurtz in order to protect the dying Boromir.

Another example of this is in The Bourne Ultimatum where the titular character fights an assassin in a bathroom

Another type of editing is slow paced editing which happens in the romance genre or Romantic  scenes in Films and Television shows or in slow scenes where there is no tension. For example In Lord of the Rings the Two Towers when Elrond and Arwen Discuss her fate

The purpose of Editing is to put all the various shots and takes selected by the director and put them together to make the finished product. Editing is used much like the soundtrack to set the scene with the tension and drama. Another editing technique is montages which are used to show a series of events in shortened to at least a minute. When editing is slow it is used either for exposition which explaining plot details or romantic scenes with soft slow soothing moments. and when editing is fast it is for fight scenes or to build up the tension in movies and is used with music to build up the tension even more of course there are some exceptions to this such as in dance scenes. Editing also helps the storyline by making sure that it is consistent








Editing In films was first used in the Great Train Robbery which was made in 1903and that was just used to cut to another scene nothing too fancy in comparison to modern day editing. later Montages were developed which as stated previously is the passage of time shortened into at least a minute of footage, Even though more then that was recorded. while montages have existed since at least the 1930's the first time they came into prominence is in the movie Rocky starring Sylvester Stallone. Rocky montage.


The techniques of editing include many things such as the scene transitions like fades, dissolves, (jump) cuts however one of the most important techniques is continuity because if one thing in the shot is different from how it was before it can ruin the scene it also connects with shot reverse shots and parallel editing.
